Why do you think Sen. McCain is suggesting that the debate be postponed?

I think it"s great that Sen. McCain went to DC to put his input in on the trash that the Democrats were trying to pass off to the American people. Why should we give money to the group ACORN as a pay off? They are one of the major reasons that we are in the mess of the economy today. At least they weren't included in the end of the final bail out (although I don't agree with the bail out either)

Because John McCain is a national hero!!!!
We still do not know who this Osoma "Barry" Obama is, nor do we know his wife-----I want to read their writings from college days. By their "associations" I am afraid they are Muslim terrorist----who wait to spring their supprise once he is sworn in. Check the facts ----he has lied about Bill Ayres. his pastor, associations with Chicago thugs and a host of other things. I do not believe he is a Christian----perhaps a cover to get accepted??
GOD SAVE AMERICA IF this guy is elected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are facing the worst economic melt down since the great depression. McCain says it should take first priority over politics. Obama says if you need me, call me, I'll be at the debate hall. Then, Obama says McCain should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time. First of all, Obama has never set aside his personal ambition for the good of the country. He has no sense of priority. The economic problem is huge, will effect Americans for decades, and deserves more than a Presidential candidate's rubber stamp, or blank check. The walk and chew gum cliche is about as trite as Obama's slogans ... like 'change we can believe in'. Unlike Obama, McCain is responsible, and has genuine leadership qualities. Obama will say, or do anything to get elected. McCain puts Americans, and America above politics, and personal ambition. No Wright, no Pfleger, no Farrakhan, no Rezko, no Ayers, no mean Michelle, and NOBAMA !!!

Arrogance vs. wisdom... Obama needs his mama. McCain is a man... leaders lead. The elitist Obama truly does not give a rip about the common folks who are stunned and worried... like our 28 year old single parent daughter, a domestic abuse survivor, who called us just before midnight last night after watching the news. We were able to reassure her.
Obama would rather manipulate than make a decision... waiting to be told which way to jump. McCain took risk... I admire his courage and trust his instincts. He has our vote... and prayers!

I guess the DUmmies finally managed to rig the poll. Funny how it went from 3000:50,000 to 120,000: 50,000 over night

  • Jaunita - 16 years ago

Hey "The truth will set us free"

The foxnews poll you are referring to has just reached that number because the paid obama bloggers are rigging the poll. You must be one of them to come on here spewing your nonsense.

  • Jaunita - 16 years ago

What John McCain has done is to show his leadership and his ability to roll up his sleeves to get a job done. McCain has proved time and again he has the ability and wisdom to head our country by putting politics aside. His entire career has been spent rolling up his sleeves and making decisions for the good of our country while reaching across party lines to accomplish these goals. I have no doubts postponing the debates to resolve our financial crisis is what HAS to happen.

If Obama were so worried about debating why wouldn’t he join McCain on stage during the Saddleback Forum, or the 911 Commission, or even the 10 town-hall meetings McCain suggested they do?

Obama has claimed for months he will bring partisanship to the White House and he will reach across the isles, well John McCain gave him the opportunity to practice what he has been preaching and what does Obama say, “They can call me if they need me”! What does that say about a Presidential nominee, “THEY CAN CALL ME IF THEY NEED ME?” Seriously Barack Hussein Obama, I mean SERIOUSLY? In all honesty, what decisions has Obama made? He has voted present over 170 times and no one knows what he exactly he stands for. Obama is afraid to make a decision and the only decision he has been consistent on is voting NO for the born alive infants protection act.

    Obama is America's future!

  • DominosUp - 16 years ago

Obama is a coward, a liar and a left wing Nazi style radical socialist. He doesn't want to go to DC because he knows nothing about the economy and he can't vote 'Present' this time. McCain is the Republican leader on the Finance Committee and is doing his job. He is not afraid of any debate. Obama is the one who refuses to debate him openly. Obama is the know nothing stumbler who can't answer a simple question without he-hawing like a donkey. You Dems will be very sorry if Obama is elected and America will be ruined. Get a clue!

  • jing - 16 years ago

Sen. McCain chose to stay in prison for 4 more years, not knowing if he would live or die, than turn his back on his country, if that doesn't show his love for America I don't know what does. It seems so clear to me.

all of you mccain lovers he is up to his ole tricks once again trying to pretend like he is so sincere he is far from that he wants to continue the war because he is mad that he was held captured and he has a point to prove that he wants to pay those people back. the same as president bush he went over there and started the war because of his dad. money, oil control we have terriost living right next door to us they are everywhere what about that. mccain and palin are joke at the end of the day all of you republicans are racist and that is just the way you operate. get a life

  • Robert - 16 years ago

How dumb can you people be? The offer to move the debate to next week on Thursday, in place of the VP debate is obviously a ploy to get Gov. Palin out of her debate. She is obviously not doing well when she has to think off the cuff. She keeps saying the same things over and over again. She is obviously being trained what to say instead of speaking her mind. So now I guess you all are wanting a puppet for VP instead of President. Bush is Cheney's puppet and now Palin will be McCain's puppet. This move to go back to Washington is nothing but a polical stunt. John McCain is not on the banking committee and will not be allowed to attend the committee meetings where the decisions are being made on this bill. So just what is he going to do in Washington? Yes, he can vote on the bill when it comes up for vote, but if the votes are already there to pass the bill, why does he need to be there, unless he plans on voting against it? The only thing he will be doing now in Washington is having a nothing gets done meeting with the President, oh and hey Obama will be at that meeting as well just as he said he would if he was needed to. The only reason that Obama is not blowing the polls out is because there are so many racist people that just won't vote for a black man for President. I just hope that those young people show up on Nov. 4th, like they did in the primaries for Obama. If they do this election will not even be close. The polls are showing a close race because they only poll those that are likely voters, and people who have hard phone lines. Young people use cell phones not hard lines.

One more note, Greta showed the poll results as eighty nine percent were saying this was McCain putting country first, and only eleven percent saying it was a political stunt. I will bet you that she won't show these poll results as they stand now considering it is showing more people believe this is a political stunt and not putting country first.

  • Robert Alfred - 16 years ago

How can anyone believe it to be a political stunt? If John McCain was only trying to make himself look good he would not have tried to get Obama to go with him. Wake up America. McCain suddenly becomes the only real leader and the debate has become unnecessary.

McCain is loosing credibility by the day. Of course this is a stunt: The problem here is that republicans are holding up the bail out so that McCain can ride in and then they will flip-flop and the bill will pass. That's a stunt if I've ever heard one. It's amusing to see all the partisans on this website who buy into the McCain campaign story that McCain is just doing his job when this is obviously a setup. McCain's campaign will suffer a backlash for these shenanigans. This is a total campaign meltdown the likes of which haven't been seen since long before the great depression. It's such a shame that McCain isn't the same man he was back in 2000 when he was running for president.

Political stunt of worst kind. After years of voting for deregulatuion, now he sees the light. The American people in trying to decide how to cast their vote November 4th , really need to see the Presidental debate. Yes it will happen, but this just reeks of same old Republican politics to move the average citizen away from the real point 9 you are not ready to debate) and create an dishonest or semi false statement, counting on the short term memory of most news watchers. Senator McCain could have made a stand for average American citizen in 1999 when he voted against regulate of financial institutions. It would appear at the time Senator McCain was more interested in letting the banking institutions and CEO's go unregulated to make more money. Stand up if you are ready Mr. McCain and let the debates go on as scheduled It appears that the joint efforts Republicans and Democrats in House and Senate have a good start on the "Bail Out Bill", which might even hold some people accountable and have a payback to American people. Would you please stop your continued twisting of events to serve only your political needs. Your job should focus on getting fellow Republicans to support the joint efforts of Franks and Reid and not play politics with this situation. You are dropping in the polls and you know it. As a non member of Finance Committee you could call for supporting action in The House of Representatives , where biggest problems to passage seems to be, and still make it to the Friday debates.

Mc Cain is acting as he did when he accepted a challenge to become a Naval Cadet, a jet pilot in the Vietnam war. This action of returning to Washington to support his country is characteristic of this Senator. God bless him for standing for the right. There is time for a debate, for political stumping, but the econcmy demands action by our present Senate...and Mc Cain is saying, I am a Senator, I am heading for Washington to do my immediate duty. Duty, Duty,. Duty...and we can expect this action in Washington, as the President of the United States. God bless America.

  • Persian Jew for McCain/Palin 2008 - 16 years ago

If people choose the candidate based on his real record and not based on his promises, then John McCain will be our next president. I am afraid that some people just believe beautiful promises that politicians give to get elected. Obama has always been in favor of Tax and now he offers income tax cut for 95% of people. Sure enough, He is going to increase other taxes: estate tax,....
Chicago has been recognized as the most stressful cities. why? because of high taxes and high unemployment,... these are the result of Obama's service to people of Chicago!!!!!!!!!

  • Pam Klinkenberg - 16 years ago

Obama knows a lot. He knows taxes and how to raise them. He knows programs and how to socialize them. He knows his church and how to use it advantageously. He knows his competition and how to run unopposed for a State Senator seat. He knows money and where, when, and how to get it. He knows government and how to exploit it. He knows voters and how to mislead them. He know his audience and how to stroke and stack them. He knows his friends and associates and when to throw them under the bus with his previously discarded grandmother. When I hear Senator Obama speak, I close my eyes and hear his real voice. It scares me because he will never know the heart and the soul of the American patriot. Thank you for your consideration. Pam K-berg

  • THE PRES. - 16 years ago

UNFORTUNATELY NOT TO LONG AGO MCBUSH STATED THAT HE HAS VERY LIMITED OR NO KNOWLEDGE OF ECONOMICS! BUT BECAUSE HE TOOK THE CRASH COURSE ON ECONOMICS AT THE ALASKAN LOCAL CITY COLLEGE. HE NOW HAVE THE EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE TO FIX THE WHOLE UNITED STATES ECONOMICS PROBLEM? JOHN YOU HAVE 2 DAYS REMAINING. PUT TOGETHER YOUR PLAN, TAKE ALL NIGHT IF YOU MUST. BUT, PUT TOGETHER YOUR PLAN AND SEND IT TO SEAN HANNITY SO HE CAN APPROVE IT. AND WE WILL SUBMIT IT TO THE PROPER AUTHORITIES TO PUT IT IN ACTION. IF YOU DON'T HEAR FROM US IN A TIMELY MANNER, DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH. ALL THAT MEANS IS YOU JUST WASTED YOUR TIME BECAUSE AFTER ALL, YOU HAVE VERY LIMITED OR NO KNOWLEDGE ON ECONOMICS!

  • No To Obama - 16 years ago

Right, Kingsley, show leadership by telling them to call him when they need him. Right, like what one of his spin doctors, say, it's quiet leadership.
Give me a break! Give us all a break!
    Rhetoric doesn't maketh a leader. Just a hot-air balloon.

  • F D Guingab - 16 years ago

Look, Senator McCain decided to stay in Hanoi when he thought setting him free is a political ploy. How tough is that? Now, he is suspending his campaign to go to work. Two days outside of campaigning is a big thing the way the Obama campaign is attacking him. But that will backfire because we Americans are smart and we can detect who loves our country more! And that is McCain: country first before himself.

  • REAL ACTION HERO - 16 years ago

Nonsense! Doing your job is no political stunt. How can you measure the performance of your Senator by a no vote/present? Common sense should tell you there is a time for debate and a time for action. McCain is a man who promises action not flowery promises to 95% of taxpayer... yea, right.

  • Adam - 16 years ago

Fox news is such crap. I just watched on TV as Greta misrepresented this poll as 11% stunt to 89% McCain is a Hero.

  • Sharon Berreth - 16 years ago

It is no more than I would expect from a man that has always put his country first.

  • sylvester williams - 16 years ago

my name is sylvester williams from wisconsin and i feel he is trying to give senator palin more time to get her self ready for the debate. and give his self time to get out of this slump because he easy ready niether for this economic crises. sorry for the misspelled words

  • George - 16 years ago

If he is putting country first why didn't he go earlier. He's down in the polls. Doesn't want to debate. Wants to change the subject. They are already close to a deal what is he going to do but GRANDSTAND!!! You people are so gullible.

  • Suzi Pringle - 16 years ago

Correction to last post. I am voting for McCain/Palin.

  • Suzi Pringle - 16 years ago

I was raised a democrat. Now that I see the immaturity of the democratic post, I am so glad I am now nonpartisian and have chosen to support the democratic ticket. I believe there is another prejudice that has not been mentioned in this campaign and that is the prejudice of those who have lived long productive lives. Someday some of you punks will grow up and figure out what what dumb jerks you have been and that experience and integrety are attributes. Maybe you will even quit living off your parents.

What would really be amusing is Obama opening the White House doors to terrorists and saying come in and lets talk. Then we would be stuck with bumbling 'foot in mouth' plagurizing Biden. Geez, what a shame Barrack was not secure enough of a man to offer the V.P. position to Hillary first. Even if she didn't take it, you guys would be less threatened and could maybe make statements that qualified for something beyond middle school mentality.

  • Kingsley - 16 years ago

This is pure political stunt. He was trailing Obama by 10 points on who is better to handle the Economy by your own FOXNews polls so he just want to change the dynamics on what has been a disatrous week for him.Who is showing the leadership required-OBAMA.

Number 1 reason to vote for McCain/Palin?
    Obama/Biden or I mean Present/Here

  • rlw - 16 years ago

Hey Tommy Ates I have exactly what you need and that is a SKITA....How do you like your APPLES?

  • Persian Jew for McCain/Palin 2008 - 16 years ago

Obama supporters say that a real president would be multitasking! Is this why Obama has skipped 90% of his senate duties in the past two years to campaign for himself. And what else he has done for this financial crisis: Just talking and propaganda! Shame on Barak Obama as Hillary Clinton said.

  • DumAssDems - 16 years ago

This is what happens when you give Democrats any positions of power. They f...kup everytime. Fire Cox! They got elected on the premise they would end the war. And when the surged worked they buried their heads in the sand and denied the truth. So it is with this financial disaster. They would rather demonize a man or woman of charater than come together for the sake of the country. All they want is power. Dems play the races against each other. Squander our money and diminish our ability to secure the country. McCain will do his duty as he was hired to do. Obama will hold up in a hotel to study for his final. Oh yea, call him if needed.

  • No To Obama - 16 years ago

I'm sick and tired of Obama's spin machine.
McCain acted like a leader and decided to go back to DC to do the job he was paid to do. Obama, as per normal, when things got tough, decided on "present."
And when asked about the contrast in response by both senators, Obama's spin doctors [Damn them to hell!] had the cheek to say Obama was displaying QUIET LEADERSHIP by making phone calls to the likes of Paulson, etc. and knowing what is going on. Give us all a break! Do these liberal, leftist Wright-Rezko-Pfleger-Ayers lovers think we're stupid?!
I, for one, on any given day would prefer to vote for a "pruny" (Colbert's reference to McCain as a prune) Maverick than an all-talk, full of bs Communist.
If you love America and want some real change, VOTE McCain-Palin!

  • SUGAR RAY - 16 years ago

THE WAY I SEE IT LARRY. EVERYTIME MCCAIN TRY'S TO BOB AND WEAVE OBAMA JABS AND DUCKS JABS AND DUCKS. WHO EVER IS IN MCCAIN'S CORNER? AND THEY DON'T SHOW HIM THE ROPE A DOPE...MCCAIN IS GOING TO BE THE DOPE ON THE ROPE!

  • Dorisjo - 16 years ago

McCain is full of it, he has already said that he doe not know that much about economics so why rush back. He has dropped in the polls so this is a way of avoiding the debate. I agree with Obama why can't you do both. The debate
is going to be for a couple of hours at the most. Change the debate from foriegn policy to economics, this would be a good chance to know where both of the candidates stand. I also agree with Obama in trying to come up with a solution, let's do it right. McCain is the last person I want to see dealing with any economic plan, he fought for deregulation and I personally think that is where a lot of problems started. McCain was also involved =with the Keating five and almost got kicked out of Congress. I don't think that our country is in that bad of shape that we cannot hear a debate.

  • Suzi Pringle - 16 years ago

I am amused at how many started their post with "Mommy". It reflects their naivity and immaturity at a time when we need the best of Americans. I see that Obama will be there only because he has been backed into a corner by the open request of Bush and McCain to suit up and show up for what we are paying him to do. He has stated that it is a grave crisis and then for them to call him if they needed him. He is only going to save face. His self interest is evident. He is like a college student runnig for class president. He want the elitism but he is showing his true colors as far as his commitment to this country. I don't care how inspirational of a speaker he may be, his heart is not in the right place. He is an ego-driven idealist who has little regard for the the every man and woman in this country. Once he gets there vote, they won't mean anything to him. I was undecided until the conventions. Now I am a true McCain/Palin follower. Obama speaks what you want to hear and he will do what best serves him.

  • Silly rabbitt, Tricks are for dumb republicans - 16 years ago

McCain is too old to handle several situations at once, his brain just has run its course. He's like Bush, everything waits while he corrects one problem. If McCain is president the economy will have to wait while he focuses on foreign policies and etc... One crisis at a time. He knows that the Palin bounce has fallen, he's behind in the polls, he's weak on economy, and the debates won't just stick to foreign policy issues anymore, his strong points. Typical political trickster. NOW SPIN THAT!!!

  • I ENDORSE THIS AD.. MCCAIN (R) - 16 years ago

MR. BIN LADEN CAN YOU SUSPEND YOUR TERRORIST ATTACK ON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FOR 25 MINUTES. I HAVE TO GO POO-POO!

  • Patriot Cat - 16 years ago

This problem is not going to be solved by Friday. And like Obama said, whoever is president better be able to attend to more than one issue at a time. How long does a debate take? I'm sure Washington could get by without McCain's presence for a few hours. Canceling is pure political ploy on McCain's part. It lets him see how the dust shakes out before he takes a stand on it.
