DAVID: Some of what is said isn't racist its just the truth. Slavery is no longer an issue. Do you not think we all have awful hateful hurting issues IN OUR PAST. You can't change what has happened, but for us to hear about slavery again and again and again WHEN it no longer exists is just mindless ranting. We have issues TODAY. Those we can do something about. I have to live in the present NOT the past; because my past also HAS many hurts and lots of pain. The thing is I experienced those things and the African Americans who are stuck on slavery have NEVER EVER experienced it. Its the Wrights, Jacksons and Sharptons who keep that hate going and the flame hot. It certainly lines their pockets with gold doesn't it and the black community; well they get nothing. I am 64 yrs. old and live in North Carolina, (have since birth), I will excerise my right to vote as woman in a few hours. Yes, it is about BLACK & WHITE; at one time I did not think so, but over the past few months a racial monster that was silent for some time has now been rebirth to overcome our USA.

And I am not a military man or a real man because I am a woman- and as a woman, I recognize that I do not have to share the views with people that I may work with, associate with, or otherwise fraternize with for political and professional reasons. In such an (obviously) divided country, I would think this be a key quality to have, no? I'm sorry that you are cosed off to people that are different from you for fear of "becoming like them", as you put it. I think it is important to know where all individuals are coming from & seeking understanding- how can you bring a nation together unless you attempt to understand? How can you make the assumption that I do not attend church? This strikes me as very odd. If you listened to his 9-11 sermon you'd understand that he was quoting the ex-Ambassador to Iraq (Peck) for most of it and you'd understand that the sermon was about not worshipping the government because it will let you down, but God won't. He called on his congregation to reflect on this in that time of upheaval. What I am good at, sir, is being objective and having an open mind.

At least Clinton knows her proposal on summer gas break is not the panacea, but at least she knows it is better than doing nothing and whether or not it can happen is not within her power to do YET! Our local newspaper today showed 6 issues for Hillary where she flip flopped and 6 issues where Obama flip flopped. So they both lied and changed.
However I am a believer that when new facts emerge which change the overall picture one should adjust to better deal with the new information for the best end result. So flip flops or lies shouldn't deter one from voting for someone because EVERYONE has to do that! You have to find out what and why the flip flop then make your own judgment on the individual issue, and not just hang your hat on she/he lied or she/he voted one way and now votoing another way. Things change and so do one's support. All candidates will have this in there background and should not be a talking point. What the latest view they have is what you need to assess when voting.

I would like to see Hillary Clinton name one of the intelligent commentators on Fox News that happen to be black as her running mate. I won't mention names as there have been many who articulate and know the issues and actually much more impressive than Obama. This would be a dream ticket that the DNC might support and figure out a way to get Michigan and Florida seated so Hillary can be well received by super delegates without cheating obama out of his early lead which would have never had held if the early voters knew what they know now. No means to an end- this is who he is. Obama did not change how he felt about Jeremiah Wright until it was clear that he had no regard for the man & his campaign. Unfortunately, even if Hillary pulls off a good showing, the DNC Howard Dean is doing everything he can to keep her from getting it. He asked for money to run an add and I sent him back a note saying I was sending my money to Hillary (not for Obama his nominee favorite).
I heard that Michelle Obama was a very close friend at work with Ayers wife.
Kids go to same school, and that they socialize. How can Obama distance himself from that kind of closeness?????? He can't.
It seems more and more that Michelle is the real albatross around his neck and poor guy, can't get rid of his wife who he loves, but also shows his lack of character and unwillingness to distance himself from racist/terrorist type people.
Back in the 1950's I championed the black cause by befriending the only two little black girls in my scout troop and played with them as felt bad about the way others treated them. They couldn't have been any sweeter but color mattered back then. In 1960's as President of employee club I invited the black workers to the company party's a first and I was chastized heavily and eventually lost my job because of it. In 1970-80's having a disabled child, she was the only white girl in the special class and I invited each and everyone of them to her birthday parties and overnights.
Now I am an old white woman in 2008, I was mesmerized by the eloquent speech abilities of Obama and had high hopes that maybe we were ready for a black President finally. However, that freshness staled with the more and more associations that attached themselves to showing although he is a great speaker, he doesn't show a clear picture on the issues that are important to this country now.
I watched all the debates and Hillary frankly knows what needs to be done, and how to do it and Obama just isn't equipped to handle all these problelms and doesn't have the know how to get things done in Washington. He isn't ready and based on the comments here, the country isn't quite ready for a black President.
Another decade everyone will be tan (spanish/black/white mix) and race will no longer be an issue then substance will be important. That day will come but probably not in my lifetime. This is a step towards that end, and there will be another Obama come along who is better prepared.
I would like to see Hillary win and appoint one of the black politicians that have supported her on fox news as her running mate. A woman President and a black Vice-President. A perfect ticket. I won't name names but there are several black persons highly qualified to serve with her and she should pick one. That might satisfy the DNC and the black voters and we CAN HAVE A WIN AGAINST MCAIN IN NOVEMBER. GO HILLARY!

I hope that Clinton wins both NC & IN by a large margin, but most likely Obama will win NC by a small margin & Clinton will win IN by a large margin.
I hope the superdelegates are paying attention. Obama can not win against McCain, the only hope for the party is Clinton. I will vote for a Clinton-Obama ticket, BUT I will not vote for a Obama-Clinton ticket. I will vote for McCain first & I know a lot of other people who feel the same way.

It is difficult to read the postings that seem so angry. I don't know what others life experience has been but it really saddens me. I know good and bad people of all races. Slavery should never have happened and thankfully someone on my family tree fought to end that. It all boils down to trust or the lack of it. I'm really sorry to say I no longer TRUST Obama, I never TRUSTED Hilliary, and though I don't agree with much of what McCain has done, out of the three, I TRUST him more. As a whole, we are the most blessed people in the world, and I think most of us know this. Unfortunately, the few who spew their venom like this, have forgotten how lucky they are. I just dialed up this site, hoping to see my candidate, Obama, ahead, but recognizing it's a Fox site, so it would likely be skewed towards Clinton, if not McCain (any closet McCain supporters here?).
What I was NOT expecting to see (naive me) was all the blatant racism. I thought most of you racists here in the 21st century hid your racism, partly out of embarrassment at your ignorance. I guess the anonymity of the Internet emboldens you.
By the way, I am white. Actually if you trace our genetic code back, all humans trace back to Africa. One of my favorite things about Obama is his ability to bridge differences, of color, differences between cultures, between political parties, between countries.

Maybe you can sit back and be still, but I can't. And let me say, its not a popular stance. Normally people don't even respond. Your losing your child, that you wanted, is different thana womanusing abortion as a means of birth control. My Mother also lost several babys. She always felt it was God's will. She told me once when I was younger that maybe there was something wrong with the child and he chose to take it home. As I've defended the child I'm unsure why your stating to me that there is no difference between the born and unborn; I've been stating that in several blogs. It was you, I thought, who didn't get it. Evidently, we are on the same page. Since you feel strongly like I do, speak out about it. Its not judgeing to save a baby. I think its only judgeing if the mother aborts and is sorry and wants forgiveness. But if she's aborting without feeling, I have no sympathy for her. She has control over what she does but that baby has nothing. It just wants to live. Everytime I think of what happens I start to weep. I only had one child and could never conceive after. I am 64 yrs. old and live in North Carolina, (have since birth), I will excerise my right to vote as woman in a few hours. If you listened to his 9-11 sermon you'd understand that he was quoting the ex-Ambassador to Iraq (Peck) for most of it and you'd understand that the sermon was about not worshipping the government because it will let you down, but God won't. He called on his congregation to reflect on this in that time of upheaval. What I am good at, sir, is being objective and having an open mind.

Our local newspaper today showed 6 issues for Hillary where she flip flopped and 6 issues where Obama flip flopped. So they both lied and changed.
However I am a believer that when new facts emerge which change the overall picture one should adjust to better deal with the new information for the best end result. So flip flops or lies shouldn't deter one from voting for someone because EVERYONE has to do that! You have to find out what and why the flip flop then make your own judgment on the individual issue, and not just hang your hat on she/he lied or she/he voted one way and now votoing another way. Things change and so do one's support. All candidates will have this in there background and should not be a talking point. What the latest view they have is what you need to assess when voting.

No means to an end- this is who he is. Obama did not change how he felt about Jeremiah Wright until it was clear that he had no regard for the man & his campaign. Back in the 1950's I championed the black cause by befriending the only two little black girls in my scout troop and played with them as felt bad about the way others treated them. They couldn't have been any sweeter but color mattered back then. In 1960's as President of employee club I invited the black workers to the company party's a first and I was chastized heavily and eventually lost my job because of it. In 1970-80's having a disabled child, she was the only white girl in the special class and I invited each and everyone of them to her birthday parties and overnights.
Now I am an old white woman in 2008, I was mesmerized by the eloquent speech abilities of Obama and had high hopes that maybe we were ready for a black President finally. However, that freshness staled with the more and more associations that attached themselves to showing although he is a great speaker, he doesn't show a clear picture on the issues that are important to this country now.
I watched all the debates and Hillary frankly knows what needs to be done, and how to do it and Obama just isn't equipped to handle all these problelms and doesn't have the know how to get things done in Washington. He isn't ready and based on the comments here, the country isn't quite ready for a black President.
Another decade everyone will be tan (spanish/black/white mix) and race will no longer be an issue then substance will be important. That day will come but probably not in my lifetime. This is a step towards that end, and there will be another Obama come along who is better prepared.
I would like to see Hillary win and appoint one of the black politicians that have supported her on fox news as her running mate. A woman President and a black Vice-President. A perfect ticket. I won't name names but there are several black persons highly qualified to serve with her and she should pick one. I agree with Billy in Georgia. I am sure that Obama would not have won the Iowa caucus if we had known what a controversal person he is. It made me sick to see Michelle greet a group of black women voters as her "sisters". It worked for awhile.
Obama will win North Carolina simply because of the large proportion of blacks in the state.
